Specialty Show
The Dachshund Club of the Great Lakes Annual Specialty Show and Obedience/Rally Trial is held in June and under the American Kennel Club Rules. The premium list with details about this event is posted on our web site beginning in March of each year. This year the Show and Trials will be June 14, 2008 at Alden's Kennels in Ringwood, Illinois. Entries close at noon, May 28, 2008.

Summer Picnic
This event is when our dogs, as well as owners, are invited to attend. In addition to great picnic eating in an outdoor setting, there are games and activities for the dogs. One of our most popular activities each year.
Holiday Party
This event is a combination reward for a year well done to members and guests and a fund raiser to support dachshund related causes. Club achievement plaques are presented to members whose dogs received AKC titles during the year. The main activity here is an auction of wrapped gifts of unknown contents brought by the guests. The hilarity is in the bidding competition followed by the winners’ surprise (or disappointment) at what she brought. Some of the items have been great values for the price and others have been, well, candidates for re-gifting.
Responsible Dog Ownership Day
The Club sponsors a booth at the Homewood, IL Dog Event Day in August. Using materials supplied by the DCA and AKC, members appear with their dogs to distribute literature on responsible dog ownership.
Seminars
